About Tim

Tim Steemson is a composer based in London, UK.

Tim is regularly creating and arranging music for live ensembles, film, animation, and games. He’s also composed the themes for audiobooks, one of which being the theme featured in HarperCollins audiobook The Binding, which was nominated for a New York Radio Festival Award. Tim is an avid reader and lover of stories, and because of this a lot of his work is story-central, exploring the links between memory, emotion, and the interconnectivity between people.

Tim grew up in Northumberland, North-East England, and despite this his accent remains mostly understandable. A fascination with music began at a very early age, and by high school he was performing with bands around the UK. While other kids were out playing football, Tim was in the school studio sampling and re-splicing The Rite Of Spring, or arranging and recording all the school staff singing a version of Band Aid. Tim went on to study at Leeds Conservatoire and Trinity Laban before settling in North London, just over the hill from AIR studios.

Tim’s ears are different shapes. No-one knows why.
